Grade 2 – 3 Scrambling & Mountaineering

If you’ve already tried some simple scrambles, and are a competent hill walker, then this course will take you on to more interesting and challenging ground. North Wales offers many dramatic rocky buttresses and steep ridges which provide classic journeys and exciting positions. On these steeper scrambles simple rope work will be required to safeguard exposed steps. You can choose from being guided up select routes or being taught the skills to be self sufficient.

On our guided courses we will find routes that suit you and we fit in with any particular aspirations you may have. Areas like the Glyders provide a haven of grade 3 routes from buttresses to ridges or the classics like the Parson’s Nose on the Snowdon range. These routes can be up to 200m-300m long.

If you wish to become self sufficient then we cover skills such as spotting, attaching to a rope, creating belays with slings and nuts, route choice and rescue scenarios. While out on the mountain, we build your skills so that you can safely put them into place on the routes under our supervision.
