The 5 day
introduction to climbing course gives you a good grounding in
the skills and techniques of climbing outside. The course allows
you to experience the full joys of outdoor rock climbing. Throughout
the week, we build up your confidence and skill level in movement
on the rock and handling of the climbing equipment, allowing
you to try a wide range of different climbing routes.
On the first
two days we use friendly single pitch crags (climbable in less
than one rope-length). Working at low client to instructor ratios
of 1:4 maximises the time spent climbing. Choice of routes and
setups will be explained on at least two different rock types.
The remaining
three days are on longer multi-pitch routes. The ratio is reduced
to 1:2, which is necessary to complete routes over 100m in length.
We also plan to do at least one atmospheric mountain route.
If you are interested we can introduce more complex ropework
and gear placements while climbing these routes, cumulating
into an introduction to leading on the last day (protecting
the climb yourself).
