The 5 day
indoor to outdoor course provides a good grounding in climbing
outside, allowing you to apply your existing climbing skills
to real outdoor crags. Experience the excitement and adventure
of rock climbing outside. Throughout the week we introduce you
to new techniques both in movement on the rock and handling
the ropes and climbing gear.
On the first
two days we use single pitch crags (climbable in less than one
rope-length). Working at low client to instructor ratios of
1:4 maximises the time spent climbing and learning about the
rope setups.
The remaining
3 days are on longer multi-pitch routes. The ratio is reduced
to 1:2, which is necessary to complete routes over 100m in length.
We also plan to do at least one atmospheric mountain route.
If you are interested we can introduce more complex ropework
and gear placements while climbing these routes, this often
cumulates into a real lead climb on the last day. Any lead climbing
is done under the close supervision of an instructor, checking
each placement as you go.
