The 5 day
learn to lead course is a comprehensive overview of gear placements,
rope work and rescue scenarios - all the ingrediants to allow
you to create your own climbing adventures. Over the five days
our aim is for you to be comfortably leading on multi-pitch
routes.
On the first
two days we use single pitch crags, working on at least two
different rock types. The low client to instructor ratios will
be 1:4, allowing individual feedback as we go through the necessary
foundation skills. You will be shown how to setup top and bottom
ropes, that can later be climbed on, and safe abseils should
you need to evacuate a crag. We also look at different ways
to create and equalise different belays, the core to safely
ascending any route and how prussics are used in rescues.
The remaining
three days are at a lower ratio of 1:2, so that you can try
leading for real. Routes that you feel comfortable on are chosen.
The instructor will be next to you at all times to offer advice
and guidance. We will use classic multi-pitch routes to coach
you on, allowing you a real and enjoyable climbing experience.
One day will be dedicated to multi-pitch rescues, should you
be off route, have an injured party or a difficult step you
can't climb.
