2 Day Learn to Lead Climb

The 2 day learn to lead course gives you the technical skills and knowledge to create you own climbing adventures. Over the two days we show you how to safely place gear, setup belays, and mange ropes. Once you are ready you can put it all together under the watchful eye of an experienced instructor.

On the first day we use single pitch crag. Working at low client to instructor ratios, of 1:4, we go through the necessary foundation skills through setting up top and bottom ropes that can be climbed on. We also look at different ways to create and equalise different belays, the core to safely ascending any route.

The second day is at a lower ratio of 1:2, so that you can try leading for real. Routes that you feel comfortable on are chosen. The instructor will be next to you at all times to offer advice and guidance. We often use sections of multi-pitch routes to coach you on. If you don't yet feel up to leading for real then it can be simulated to practice all the skills learnt.

Typical itinerary for the Learn to Lead Climbing Course includes the following:

- Selecting natural anchors
- Nut, Cam and Hex placements
- Use and extension of quickdraws
- Creation of belays
- Equalising and making points independant on belays
- Rope management
- Route selection and following guide books

Course Cost: £140
