The 5 day
climbing course allows you to experience and enjoy a wide range
of different climbing routes across Snowdonia. Throughout the
week we build up your confidence and skill level in movement
on the rock and handling of the climbing equipment. Working
at low ratios enables us to focus on individual needs and desires.
In the last
three days there is one instructor to every two clients. This
allows the possibility of ascending multi-pitch routes (cliffs
longer than a rope length that are climbed in a series of stages)
and experiencing being on lead.
Typical itinerary
for a Beginner climber includes the
following:
- Introduction days on small friendly crags
- How to tie-on and belay (hold the ropes for a fellow climber)
- Taught climbing techniques (smearing, edging, bridging,
hand jams...)
- Seconding on multi-pitch routes
- Construction of belays and simple gear placements
- Introduction to lead climbing
